As one of the six original red wine grapes cultivated in Bordeaux, France, Carmenere was once a blending wine in the Medoc region as it produced a deep red color on wines. However on its own and grown in the Lodi Appellation, this wine shows great depth with strong peppery notes, round Merlot-like fruit quality and a balanced, overall structure.
