2021 Michael David Reserve Syrah

Syrah and Michael David Winery go way back. As one of the original varietals produced by the winery and a favorite of Michael and David, this Syrah represents the very best of our Phillips family grown Syrah vineyards. Our winemakers found a contrasting balance of two vineyards, both hailing from the Mokelumne River sub-AVA - a little over half of the production was harvested from our onsite Highway 12 vineyard and the balance from David Phillips' vineyard on Davis Road. Aged to perfection for 15 months in Tonnellerie 6 premium French oak barrels, our Michael David Reserve Syrah will impress now or after being layed down for a few years .

Tasting Notes
The claimed varietal by both Michael and David, it only made sense to produce a premiere level of this varietal. Aged in 100% French oak, this 2021 Reserve Syrah is very expressive aromatically, showing black cherries, sweet brioche, leather and black pepper. Full bodied and velvety smooth on the palate, flavors of ripe blueberries, dark plum, brown sugar and cocoa nibs build onto the delicate, lush finish.
