Sustainably produced from our estate vineyard, this is the first vintage of the varietal for Michael David Winery. As one of the six original red wine grapes cultivated in Bordeaux, France, Carmenere was once a blending wine in the Medoc region as it produced a deep red color on wines. However on its own and grown in the Lodi Appellation, this wine shows great depth with strong peppery notes, round Merlot-like fruit quality and a balanced, overall structure.
